    Tension: Police reveals Niger Delta militant’s plan for Ogun state

    - Militants invade a community in Ogun sate and killed 15 person

    – The police said the militants came from the Nigeri Delta region

    – The Ogun state commissioner of police said the militants had also caused mayhem along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway

    The police in Ogun state have revealed that militants from the Niger Delta region invaded a community in the state because they were being flushed out in their region....

    It was reported that armed men raided Imushin community, Ogijo area of Ogun state, in the late hours of June 17, killing at least 15 residents.

    The militants on a killing spree were about 100 in number. They carried guns and cutlasses. Among the 15 killed were a technician, a travel agent, and even a Muslim cleric from a local mosque.

    The Hausa community vowed to make the attackers pay for the death of two of its members.

    Vanguard reports that Abdulmajid Ali who is the commissioner of police in Ogun state conformed that the perpetrators of the attack were militants from the Niger Delta region who were looking a haven because of military operation in the region.

    Ali said the invasion of Imushin community in Ogijo area of the state said the issue must not be treated with levity.

    Although it was reported that 15 people died in the attack, the police commissioner claimed that only three persons died.

    “It’s not true that 15 people were killed there. The DPO Ogijo was on ground; he reported that only three people were killed and their bodies have been recovered from the scene,” Ali said.

    He said the deployment of military personnel in the region has promoted the militants to be breaking new grounds in order to continue “to perpetrate oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering.”

    He said the militants carry out their attacks and return to the creek and that they were also responsible for pipeline vandalism and economic sabotage in the Arepo axis along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

    He warned that if their activities were not checked, it could develop to insurgency
    "The  militants are finding it difficult in Niger Delta and Ikorodu area of Lagos State. They are now moving to our side in Ogun. They are the ones involved in kidnapping and sorts of crime.”

    “These boys are becoming lawless. It is the same group that killed. NNPC officials, SSS and Navy officers in Arepo. They are responsible for lots of criminal activities in the area. Honestly, they should be treated like Boko Haram. “
